Madera County Workforce Assistance Center

One-stop-shop for all of your workforce needs Consultants will walk you through the unemployment process and assistance programs based on your eligibility.  They are currently doing weekly virtual orientation of services (Wednesdays at 10 AM) to employees impacted by layoffs. They have gathered representatives from various organizations to bring information about resources and services available to support impacted employees during these uncertain times. Disability Insurance

If you’re unable to work due to medical quarantine or illness related to COVID-19 (certified by a medical professional) If eligible, you can receive about 60-70% of wages (depending on income); ranges from $50 – $1,300 a week for up to 6 weeks.

Paid Family Leave

California Paid Family Leave (PFL) provides partial wage replacement benefits to employees who need to take time off from work to care for a seriously ill family member (child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, spouse, or registered domestic partner). If eligible, you can receive about 60-70% of wages (depending on income) earned 5 to 18 months before your claim start date for up to six weeks within any 12-month period. The length of time worked at your current job does not affect eligibility.

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance

PUA benefits are payable if you don’t qualify for regular UI benefits in California. This program is available for Self Employed, Independant Contractors and Business Owners. This program will allow you to apply for unemployment assistance and the payment of your lost wages will be retroactive from the time you stopped working due to the Corona Virus.  Click here for more info.

If you or a family member are sick or for preventative care when civil authorities recommend quarantine Paid Family Leave (PFL) provides benefits to individuals who need to take time off work to care for a seriously ill child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, spouse, or registered domestic partner.

Workers’ Compensation If you are unable to do your job because you were exposed to and contracted COVID-19 during the regular course of your work. Workers’ compensation covers some, but not all, stress-related (psychological) injuries caused by your job.
